MTV EMAs: Tiwa Savage Becomes First Female To Win Best African Act


Mavin Records Queen, Tiwa Savage, has been named as the first Nigerian female artists to win the MTV Europe Music Awards in the Best African Act category.
She won the record breaking award at the 2018 MTV EMAs which took place at the Bilbao Exhibition Center, Bilbao, Spain.
The African act category, in 2005, was infused into the MTV EMA to enhance musical alliances across borders, and promote cultural integrations.
Three Nigerians have won the award including 2face in 2005, D’banj in 2007 and 2012, and Davido in 2017. Tiwa Savage was nominated alongside, Davido, Fally Ipupa from the DRC.
The Nigerians superstar singer, took to her Instagram, to dedicate her award to African women and aspiring young girls.
She said, “Almighty God, you are so faithful. My savage soldiers did it for me.
“You have stuck with me through the roller coasters. Thank you. To my amazing team, this is just the beginning. African women, this is for us.
“I have been through a lot but I have kept my head up and weathered the storm because I know some little girl somewhere is dreaming like I did,”

Ethan Ampadu Signs Five Year Extension Deal With Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder, Ethan Ampadu  has signed a new five year contract extension with the club, on Wednesday. Ampadu, who plays for Wales has been battling to settle in the starting line up of Chelsea’s coach, Maurizio Sarri this season. The player in time past had stated that he was putting all efforts together so has to be included in the starting line up of the club. “ I’m really proud and happy, ” ESPN quoted Ampadu as saying. “ I’m looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen .”
